Sadly, the Waynesboro wildlife center just called to tell me that Hebron, the little Easter bat, passed away this morning. Apparently he was too cold and dehydrated to make it. Poor Hebron. Perhaps one day he will rise again since he was, after all, an Easter bat.
R.I.P. Hebron.

Hebron was the sweetest little bat that I had ever seen. I have a new found fondness for those fuzzy little creatures, because of him. He filled out hearts this Easter, and we’ll miss him.
We loved your saving the bat story. I made a bat house for our friendly neighbour that sits on lawn chairs each evening and counts the bats returning to their house. She sits with a roommate and they keep count each evening. She was counting up to 70 last summer that lived behind her window shutters. That was why she ordered the bat house. She was worried that the bats would fall out (from behind the shutters)on the ground and cats partially eat them (cats seem to partially eat stuff they kill). I’m not sure if the bats are using the new bat house this summer because I have not spoken to her for a while. I installed the bat house on the front of her house after painting it a dark shade to capture the heat better. She has studied bat behavior and is becoming an expert in this subject. She named a few of “her” bats. One fact she told me………bats like to live no more than 1/4 mile from a source of water. Story from Waynesboro.
